There are numerous types of electrical wire. Each different kind of electrical wire is ideal for an alternative job. The wires have even kinds of insulation and protection; itrrrs this that makes each one perfect for a different application. There exists THHN and TFFN wires that are much the same. And then there are the NM-B and Romex wires as well as the MC Conduit cable. These wires are ideal for electrical work indoors and several of them may also be used outside, plus conduit.

    TFFN and THHN

Both of these wire names are abbreviations. TFFN is short for thermoplastic insulation, flexible, fixture, and nylon coating. As the THHN represents thermoplastic insulation, heat resistant, high temperature resistant, and nylon coating. Then add in that a few of the THHN wires come even in a water, gas and oil resistant form, so you get THWN wire. They’re all single conductor copper wires you can use both indoors, outdoors along with conduit.

    NM-B and Romex

Romex could be the Southwire brand of an NM-B cable. The actual NM is short for non-metallic. Which means that as opposed to the wire being incased within a metal jacket. The NM-B cable includes a PVC jacket across the multiple conductors it holds. This version of electrical wire can only be used indoors. The wire doesn’t have enough protection into it to use outside. The commonest use because of this type of wire is at insulated homes and buildings, running power from electrical boxes to outlets, lights and appliances.

    MC Conduit Cable

This kind of electrical cable is very different from the NM-B cable. This is because the MC Conduit cable is metal clad. This sort of electrical cable has an aluminum interlocked armor jacket rather than the typical PVC. The aluminum jacket round the wires conductors is designed to become a conduit so there won’t be the need for one when it’s being installed. This design can also be supposed to speed up mobile phone process, consequently saving electricians and contractors both time and expense.

These electrical wires can be used indoors as building wire. Most can even be used outdoors in conduit as well. Now despite the fact that these wires are somewhat similar, they are still different, hence the variation in applications. Make sure to look at your choices to find the appropriate wire for your job or project!
